Summer has always been the time to lay back, chill and forget about the rigors and demands of school. Yet, if you’re preparing to go back to college and, more importantly, preparing to live off campus for the first time, there ares some things you need to consider.
Student apartment rentals in Ithaca come in all shapes and sizes with varying amenities. PJ Apartments tries to provide our students with excellent beginning furniture and appliances.
To start with, our rental units are equipped with the following:
The common space of each unit is furnished to fit the space.
Living rooms may have sectional sofas or couches, a coffee table and end tables, table lamps, and a dining room table and chairs.
If your building has a porch, we also provide outdoor furniture such as black futons, occasional chairs and dining table and chairs.
Each tenant is provided with a full size bed, dresser, desk and desk chair. If you would prefer to bring your own bed, we can accommodate your needs. However, we cannot accommodate moving furniture out of the common space or bedrooms to allow you to bring in your own furniture.
You may bring small items such as a bedside table, small bookcase etc. Please note: any large piece of furniture including beds, must be approved prior to moving in.
Not many affordable apartment rentals in Ithaca provide these basic living essentials. We aim to make your off-campus living as easy and simple as possible. Gone are the days when you need a U-Haul truck to carry your personal items and furniture across country or across the state to get yourself settled in a new apartment off campus.
What Do You Bring?
Again, with all the basic and major furniture taken care of, you need to think of the smaller and more enjoyable items.
Here’s some suggestions:
Stereo or good speakers (the laptop or phone speakers just won’t do the trick).
Pots, pans, utensils, dishes, glasses, and mugs.
Area rugs if the apartment doesn’t have any.
Table lamps to accent your areas (and think mood lighting).
Lap desk if you prefer to work sitting at the couch or on your bed (much easier on your back and could prevent the laptop from overheating).
Linens for kitchen (hand towels), bathroom towels and wash clothes, bedding (sheets, blankets, comforter – and don’t forget some kind of mattress pad or protector).
Bathroom storage and the ever useful toilet plunger (much better to have on hand than to deal with an overflowing toilet).
Dry erase board to keep you and your roomies on track!
Lockable storage units for those special papers and priceless items you can’t afford to lose (like birth certificates, lease agreement, jewelry, etc.)
